Barcelona

Casa Batllo

In August of 2012 Ed's brother, Eric, came to England to visit us.  We always strive to show family and friends a good time in Europe, so we took Eric to Barcelona, Valencia and Bunol, Spain while he was with us.

I have always wanted to visit Barcelona.  I absolutely love Antoni Gaudi's work and touring his city on bike was a dream come true!

But our trip had another purpose, La Tomatina, the world's largest food fight.  Every year, on the last Wednesday of August, tens of thousands gather in the small town of Bunol, Spain.  This tradition began in 1944 as a small tomato fight among children.  In this day and age dump trucks full of tomatos drive through and dump over 100 tons of tomatos on the crowd.  The fight lasts for an hour.
Click on this link for an interesting documentary short about the festival.     http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vd3n5NGoxE8

Our camara was battery was dead by the time we got to Bunol (ahem, Eric wasted it taking pictures of the local girls) so we don't have our own photos of the fight.  But, seek on google and you will find.
